Using Your Fire Cold Plunge Outdoors in Winter
Keep your routine. No seasonal winterizing during regular use.
Follow these winter operating and care instructions for your Fire Cold Plunge.
Your Fire winter routine
- Prepare before freezing weather. Have the water above 40°F before outdoor temperatures fall below freezing. During subzero outdoor conditions, maintain water above 40°F. Contact support promptly if you cannot maintain these conditions.
- Keep it powered. Circulation, filtration and sanitation still matter when the cooling system does not need to run.
- Use it regularly. Fire recommends about four to five uses a week for this winter operating routine. Normal use adds body heat; insulation and the gasket-sealed lid help retain it. Do not extend your session to warm the water.
- Keep wet surfaces dry. Keep your plunge in a covered, sheltered location protected from direct rain and snow. Wipe the rim and lid contact surfaces and remove splashed water from the surrounding ground to reduce icing.
Check daily during freezing weather
Inspect the water, circulation and unit daily. Light surface ice is acceptable. Contact support promptly, within 24 hours of first noticing abnormal or increasing ice buildup, impaired circulation or freezing beyond light surface ice. Do not wait until the tub is frozen solid. Email hello@firecoldplunge.com outside phone hours so your report is recorded.
Regular use adds some warmth, but it does not guarantee protection from freezing. If power is interrupted or circulation stops, contact support promptly for guidance.
Taking a break is different from winterizing for the season.
For extended periods without use, drain the tub and turn it off. This recommendation applies in summer and winter. Refill it when you are ready to resume your routine.
